This is a blog created to record our family's roller coaster ride of a life. In this blog you will read about everyday life with us. You will learn that Lilly loves cheer and Trev is ALL BOY! We are quite the busy family. Besides Lilly's cheer practice that goes on 4 times a week (3 hours each day) we also take Master T to 2 soccer practices a week & one soccer game each weekend. How do we find time to throw the parties & get togethers that we have each month, or do homework, or clean the house, or grocery shop, or just spend time together, you may ask. Skill, people. It is a balancing act.

Homeschool update

Things have been busy around here. Lilly is a totally different child. She is less likely to argue or sass. I am impressed with her behavior. Trevor is learning to write his letters and Lilly has figured cursive handwriting out. Lilly is learning how to use the library's online card catalog. She has figured out how the system works. Next week we plan to go online and pick out books by subject and write down the call numbers and then find the book on the shelf at the library.

I am happy to be able to take the opportunity to teach the children and I realize the challenges and I embrace the benefits of homeschooling.

School starts very soon and Lilly is still enrolled. I may send her for a few weeks until all of my materials are ordered or who knows. She may attend for the entire year. Still not sure yet. However, I am sure of the fun we are having this summer!!! The pool, the beach, park days, the library, etc. We are busy busy and really enjoying the time we are spending together. I am so lucky to be able to stay at home with our children.

Lilly started growing hair about 2 weeks before school ended. However, hair growth is spotty, so we decided to start Lillly's Anthralin treatment again. It will take a couple of months to see what her body will do with the treatment. We do accupressure every now and then. We should do it every night but we just haven't gotten into a good routine.
By the way, the pic above is elephant Lilly. It is something she did when she was 2 years old and remembers it to this day. The child has a memory like an elephant!!! No kidding.

Homeschooling

Tomorrow is the day we start our trial based homeschool session. We will go on through the summer for 9 weeks. If all goes well we will continue homeschool for a while (years). Trevor is very excited. And Lilly is happy to know that she can be home with the family.

I am writing about this so we can document (on a daily or weekly basis) to decide if this will work for Lilly and our family. So everyone will know the ups and downs we are going through during this process.

If anyone is curious about homeschooling there are some great books to check out at the library.

We are making a trip to the library tomorrow to check some out along with some books about bugs and animals (requested by Master T) and of course Lilly will choose whatever she is interested in. Here are a few books I will be looking at: Family Matters: Why Homeschooling Makes Sense, The Well-Adjusted Child: The Social Benefits of Homeschooling

Also, if you don't frequent the library but visit the internet often check out this site:

Wish us luck.
