This is a blog created to record our family's roller coaster ride of a life. In this blog you will read about everyday life with us. You will learn that Lilly loves cheer and Trev is ALL BOY! We are quite the busy family. Besides Lilly's cheer practice that goes on 4 times a week (3 hours each day) we also take Master T to 2 soccer practices a week & one soccer game each weekend. How do we find time to throw the parties & get togethers that we have each month, or do homework, or clean the house, or grocery shop, or just spend time together, you may ask. Skill, people. It is a balancing act.

Camping at # 29 - 3/18/11-3/19/11

We decided to take the family on a camp trip this spring.  We wanted to go to the NC Mountains but with the gas prices being as high as they are, we decided to stay close to home, so Carolina Beach State Park it was!  And it was FUN, let me tell you!
After packing the Pilot, we trucked it on up to the local Walmart to get some food.  Then we rode out to the the campgrounds.  All the way there, about a 30-40 minute drive, we heard different variations of when will we be at our destination, like, "Are we there yet?"  "When will we be there?"  "How much longer until we are there?" over and over and over again.  It was fun knowing that the sweeties were that excited about going.
When we got to the camp grounds we drove around twice to find the best camp site.  Neal didn't want to be on the inside of the camp grounds because he didn't want to be the highway to the bathroom and the children wanted a camp site with a good climbing tree.  Neal really liked # 18 but we didn't see a climbing tree anywhere near by so we drove around.  We saw number 29....It did not have a climbing tree but there was one right across the way.  But boy it came with some awesome swinging vines and a vine that leaked water (I like to call it nature's faucet.)

Lilly needed help getting water.
The children collected firewood, while Neal went to the marina to pay for our night's stay (20 BUCKS!!)  Then we set up camp.  Of course, we then ate.  We had a good time.  Often, the children would play in the woods and swing on the vines and run across the street to the climbing tree.  They got along so well.
Before dinner.

The raccoons were highly rude between the hours of midnight to 2 am.  Then our neighbors to the left us kept us up from 3-4:30 or 5 am!  After that, the geese decided it was time to take off and were up at the river honking away!  We slept from about 5:30-7am and it was good.
Trev was digging holes to trap bigfoot.

Breakfast time.

Breakfast was yummy.  The tree was climbed some more (if it had a face, it would have smiled because it was dearly loved.)  The tent was packed and put away.  Neal saved me from a roach.  And then we went for a walk on some trails.

It was all beautiful.  Good memories were had by all.  We can't wait to do it again and visit good ol' #29 next spring.

Thanks Grandma Rosie & Grampy for gifting us the tent.  We love it.  Thanks Chris D. for letting us borrow your cooking/camping utensils.  You're the best!)
